There are 5 types of dress collars one should consider when buying a dress shirt.
The shape of the face and the body determines which look best, but personally I really don’t care.
I pick a style that is different from the rest and flaunt it with style!
Check out the different styles below.

The medium point works for most face shapes and for all kinds of tie knots. Some may argue that the Windsor knot may be too big for the medium collar but I find that the knot looks cleaner and sturdily in place when used on a medium collar.
The spread is great for people with smaller and longer faces. The spread collar balances out the long face by spreading out. Think of it as an illusion!
The cutaway is similar to the spread but wider. Again, it’s great with people with long faces but looks real nice as the collars line up with the lapel lines.
The pinned collar is designed to elevate your tie as well as keep the collar in place with the use of a collar pin. Of all the styles, this is the most flashy type because it requires an extra piece of jewelry on the collar! This one was especially used by the notorious Gordon Gecko from the movie “Wall Street”.
The button down is the least of my favorite because it looks nerdy. It’s great for casual wear and can be used without wearing a tie.
