Should you Wear a Two or a Three piece suit?
Is wearing a suit and vest (waistcoat) okay? I think the real question is do you want to look classy or not.
Well that definitely depends on the situation.
- A three piece always looks classy!
For Job Interviews?
Nope! This goes out especially for those young fresh graduates. I definitely would not wear a three piece suit to a job interview. I don’t care how bespoke you look wearing a three piece you should aim to keep it simple and respectable. A two piece is more than good enough.
Business Meetings?
Yeah! Why not? Think of wearing a vest with a jacket as an optional choice. You can either wear one or not.
In business, wearing a two piece already suffices. However, wearing a three piece suit adds class and style. Confidence also play a huge role in wearing a vest because those who have the confidence really show it.
In addition, those who lead presentations, negotiations, and deals usually are seasoned employees or executives (leaders) for their companies. It wouldn’t hurt at all to wear a three piece, but beware of hot days because that extra layering will make you sweat.
To simplify it all, wearing a three piece is saying you’re a leader and not some lowly foot soldier.
Formal events (i.e. weddings)
Again, this is optional and there is no hidden rule saying that you can’t wear a three piece to a wedding. The groom usually wears a vest but male guests can too. To me, wearing a three piece shows some form of respect for the bride and groom. Finally, when the disco lights turn on, you’ll be noticed.
The Three Piece Suit Trend
These days, the three piece suit seems to become a thing of the past but it seems to be making a slow comeback!
Some say that wearing a vest is an overstatement but to me, it is only an overstatement for those who don’t have the confidence to wear a vest with a suit.
Finally, look like you know how to wear a three piece suit by never buttoning your jacket when wearing a vest. Also don’t forget to keep the last button on your vest unbuttoned at all times!
